Sheila Cappelletti's love of art began at the early age of nine. Accompanied by her father, an artist and teacher, she spent summers at upstate New York farm where she attempted her first landscape paintings. She lost her father at age ten, but his legacy to her endured throughout her life.
Years later she studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Parsons School of Design NYC. But it was at the Arts Student's League under the tutelage of Mario Cooper and Dale Meyers did her true love of watercolor manifest itself.
She has entered in National and International Competitions including Audubon Artists NY, National Watercolor Society CA, Springfield Art Museum MO, Pen & Brush NY, North East Watercolor Society CT, Art Splash on the Square, Graham TX, Viridian Gallery NY, Water Media Exhibition Tubac AZ, Northern Colorado Artists Association CO, Butler Institute Ohio, Pittsburgh Watercolor Society PA, Alpan Gallery Huntington NY, and the Louisiana, Red River CO, Baltimore Shows.
She has won the Gold Medal for Watercolor & Purchase, Springfield Art Museum and the City of Springfield MO – Award of Merit, Watercolor USA - Memorial Award Lucille Davis Grimm, Springfield MO - Artists of America Award, Pen & Brush NY - Award of Merit and Rita Druis Memorial Award, Salmagundi NY - Award of Excellence from the Smithtown Township of the Arts, NY
Her Permanent Collections include the Zimmerli Art Museum, New Brunswick NJ, Springfield Art Museum MO, and the City of Springfield MO.
She is a member of the Natinal Association of Women Artists NY, the Salmagundi Club NY, and Honorary Member of Watercolor USA, MO
